Lawmakers Hear Directly from Family Business Leaders on Capitol Hill
Washington DC, United States, October 21, 2026 -- The bipartisan Congressional Family Business Caucus saw its 51st member, Rep. Tim Moore (R-NC), join its bipartisan ranks as the midterm legislative agenda affecting family-owned businesses approaches.
Rep. Moore follows Rep. David Min’s (D-CA) signing on to the growing list of lawmakers joining the Caucus.
The Caucus is co-chaired by Rep. Lou Correa (D-CA) and Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) and is now comprised of 22 Democrats and 29 Republicans. The Caucus, which held three meetings in 2026, is organized by Family Enterprise USA, a bipartisan not-for-profit that advocates for family-owned businesses across the country.
Last month, the Caucus held its last meeting of the 119th Congress with the themes: “The Price of Prosperity” and “Family Business Strategies for Battling All Taxes on Success."
The meeting, held in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, heard from two house members, Rep. David Kustoff (R-TN) and Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), who shared their overview of the upcoming midterms and how they may affect family-owned businesses.
The Congressional Family Business Caucus was created to help lawmakers understand the complex issues facing family-owned businesses, to educate them on critical legislation affecting family business growth, and to support the millions of family-owned businesses that serve as the cornerstone of local economies nationwide.
“We’re excited to see Representative Tim Moore join this important forum advocating for hardworking, family-owned businesses,” said Tim Schultz, Chief Executive Officer, Family Enterprise USA and Family Enterprise USA Action. “It’s important that our lawmakers understand what a powerful economic engine family-owned businesses are for our country, and this Caucus helps them craft policies that keep family businesses strong and growing,” said Schultz.
America’s family businesses are the largest private employers in the country, accounting for 83.3 million jobs in some 32 million family businesses across the country, according to research. These businesses contribute $7.7 trillion annually to U.S. gross domestic product.

Andrea Atzeni is confident the rise to 1,200m will suit Crimson Flash when the classy sprinter chases a career-best victory in Sunday’s Group Two Lukfook Jewellery Premier Bowl at Sha Tin. After recording four wins in a strong second campaign in Hong Kong, Crimson Flash was sent off the $5.6 third favourite in his return but found the 1,000m too sharp when fifth to Colourful King in the Group Three National Day Cup. Atzeni said the Mark Newnham-trained gelding also didn’t appreciate being...

Tom Ballantyne was playing a pre-season friendly for Welsh club Monmouth Town when he “got clattered” and sustained a tibia plateau fracture. “I broke my knee joint, essentially,” Ballantyne said. “I never played again”. So began a life investment in coaching that would see Ballantyne stacking supermarket shelves overnight, then spending long days on the grass. He has been employed by Cardiff City and Aston Villa, and managed in three of Australia’s six states. The Englishman was the man Jim...

Ante Milicic has left his post as coach of China’s national women’s team, the football association said on Friday, eight months before the World Cup. The 52-year-old Australian had been in charge since May 2024 and led the team to the semi-finals of the Women’s Asian Cup in March. That finish earned them a spot at next year’s World Cup in Brazil. Milicic also recently took China to fourth place at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan after losing 2-0 to North Korea in the semi-finals. “After...

Beginning the day two strokes back, Cheung carded a sensational eight-under-par 62 to move to 14 under overall, with Caleb Surratt alone in second on 11 under after also posting a 62. Overnight leaders Anirban Lahiri and Kevin Yuan could not match their first-round fireworks, with the former’s 68 leaving him in a tie for...

There was a moment on Thursday when history looked like being made at the Link Hong Kong Open, and while forgiving greens and some generous pins meant normal service was later restored, the glimpse on offer was of a local game in rude health. For the first time since the tournament began in 1959, two Hongkongers – Isaac Lam and Matthew Cheung – briefly sat at the top of the leaderboard at six-under-par. By the end of the day they were far from alone and further down the field than they might...
