Greece's Brand-New 2027 Catamarans Are Taking Bookings Before They Are Even in the Water, Says My Greek Charter

Oct 19, 2026

Eight new crewed catamarans built in 2026 or 2027 are listed for Greece next summer. Six already show peak weeks booked, two of them before delivery. My Greek Charter explains why the newest boats go first and how to still get one.

United States, October 19, 2026 -- The newest catamarans in Greece are selling before they are launched, reports My Greek Charter, operated by DMA Yachting. The brokerage checked the booking calendar of every new crewed catamaran listed for Greece next summer. Eight boats built in 2026 or 2027 will be on the water, six of them already show July or August 2027 weeks booked, and two are taking reservations while still in the yard, before a single guest has stepped aboard.

The full findings are published in the brokerage's review of the eight new catamarans arriving in Greece for 2027, checked boat by boat against each yacht's own booking calendar in October. The clearest case is the largest. CHRISTAL MIO 80, a 79 foot power catamaran for twelve guests in six cabins, already has six of her eight peak summer weeks reserved, nine months before the season. She is no gamble either: she arrives as the larger sister of a 67 foot power catamaran that has run Greek charters since 2020, from the same Athens operation, with a sixth cabin added. ALINA, another new 79 footer for next summer, is run by the same operation. And ELLY II, a new Fountaine Pajot that will not be delivered until January 2027, already shows five charter weeks booked on her first season's calendar. Boats like these are easy for the brokerage to recommend: the crews and the operations behind them are already known quantities.

The driver is demand that the existing fleet cannot keep up with, especially for large luxury catamarans in the 70 to 80 foot range. These boats now compete directly with motor yachts: on deck area, a new 80 foot catamaran matches a motor yacht well over 100 feet, at a friendlier weekly rate and with far better fuel efficiency. So each new large catamaran that reaches Greece is snapped up almost as soon as she is listed, a shift the brokerage follows in its running report on how booked Greece already is for summer 2027.

"There is simply more demand for these large catamarans right now than the fleet can serve, so the new ones get snapped up right away," said Mo Pristas, Co-Founder of DMA Yachting. "They have become serious alternatives to motor yachts: more space, a better price, better fuel economy. For a budget under 60,000 a week we usually say go for a catamaran without hesitation, and even at 90,000 we often look at one, depending on the ambitions a client has for the itinerary."

Most of the new arrivals are based in Athens, which puts them on the classic island runs like the 7 day Athens to Mykonos one way. Reaching them is getting easier as well: Alaska Airlines opens the first ever nonstop between the US West Coast and Athens in May 2027, adding to the largest lineup of American nonstop routes Greece has ever had.

For guests who want a brand new boat next summer, the advice from My Greek Charter is simple. The sixty footers among the 2026 and 2027 builds still show most of their summer open, and the calm window to choose is the autumn and early winter. If this autumn's pace holds, the newest boats in Greece will be the ones with the fewest dates left by spring.

China dad handed 3-year race ban after dragging rope-tied son around marathon

A marathon runner in China who dragged a nine-year-old boy around a half-marathon using a rope has been handed a three-year ban and had his result erased. Video clips of the child with a rope around his waist struggling to keep up as the pair competed in the Zhengzhou Marathon in Henan province have gone viral, and sparked intense debate online. While some social media users expressed surprise at the boy’s endurance, most condemned the incident, which is believed to have involved a father and...

Andrea Atzeni optimistic Crimson Flash will relish rise in trip in Group Two Premier Bowl

Andrea Atzeni is confident the rise to 1,200m will suit Crimson Flash when the classy sprinter chases a career-best victory in Sunday’s Group Two Lukfook Jewellery Premier Bowl at Sha Tin. After recording four wins in a strong second campaign in Hong Kong, Crimson Flash was sent off the $5.6 third favourite in his return but found the 1,000m too sharp when fifth to Colourful King in the Group Three National Day Cup. Atzeni said the Mark Newnham-trained gelding also didn’t appreciate being...

Hall is well aware things can change very quickly in racing, but his stable is bouncing at present and he is enjoying the...

Wales, Australia, managing David Silva all part of Sha Tin coach’s rich tapestry

Tom Ballantyne was playing a pre-season friendly for Welsh club Monmouth Town when he “got clattered” and sustained a tibia plateau fracture. “I broke my knee joint, essentially,” Ballantyne said. “I never played again”. So began a life investment in coaching that would see Ballantyne stacking supermarket shelves overnight, then spending long days on the grass. He has been employed by Cardiff City and Aston Villa, and managed in three of Australia’s six states. The Englishman was the man Jim...

Coach of China’s women’s football team leaves post eight months before World Cup

Ante Milicic has left his post as coach of China’s national women’s team, the football association said on Friday, eight months before the World Cup. The 52-year-old Australian had been in charge since May 2024 and led the team to the semi-finals of the Women’s Asian Cup in March. That finish earned them a spot at next year’s World Cup in Brazil. Milicic also recently took China to fourth place at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan after losing 2-0 to North Korea in the semi-finals. “After...
