The company is formalizing an “Exit by Design” model that combines senior engineering delivery with a structured path toward client team self-sufficiency.
United States, October 20, 2026 -- MetaProject has repositioned its software engineering business around a clear operating principle: “Full-cycle product engineering that leaves your team in control.” The company’s updated model is designed to help organizations build and scale software without becoming permanently dependent on an outsourcing provider.

The repositioning grew out of a recurring problem MetaProject encountered across client engagements. While companies often owned the software they had paid to build, they remained dependent on an external vendor for the operational knowledge. The company developed its model to address vendor lock-in from the start of each engagement, rather than trying to resolve dependency during the final handover.
Founded in 2018, MetaProject has completed more than 50 engagements across six industries for clients in the US, UK and EU, and is ranked by Clutch among the Top 10 app developers in Europe.
“We kept seeing companies that technically owned their software but could not confidently operate or change it without going back to the vendor or the few developers who understood the system,” said Oleksii Bilokamenskyi, Founder and CEO of MetaProject. “We decided to break that pattern starting with ourselves. If we do our job properly, the client should become more capable and less dependent on us over time.”
That principle is implemented through a three-phase engagement model. During Co-Execution, MetaProject leads delivery while the client team observes and builds familiarity with the system. In Transition, the client team takes the lead while MetaProject provides mentoring, quality assurance and codifies key engineering practices. The final phase, Self-Sufficiency, is reached when the client team operates its own center of excellence and MetaProject steps back into an advisory role. This approach, referred to as Exit by Design, is intended to reduce long-term dependency on an external engineering provider.
The model also treats delivery as part of the client team’s development. Through Delivery as Training, internal engineers work alongside MetaProject’s senior specialists while software is being built. Knowledge Transfer takes place throughout the engagement through runbooks, ADRs, pipelines, and repeatable engineering practices rather than being postponed until the final weeks of a project.
MetaProject applies this model across product development, DevSecOps, data engineering and Generative AI and LLM development.
The repositioning gives the company a clearer way to communicate how its commercial model differs from open-ended outsourcing arrangements. Rather than measuring success by the length of an engagement, MetaProject defines success by whether the client can ultimately continue without day-to-day external dependence.
Looking ahead, MetaProject plans to continue developing its senior-led engineering and capability-transfer model while maintaining the principle at the center of its updated brand: “Full-cycle product engineering that leaves your team in control.”

Tom Ballantyne was playing a pre-season friendly for Welsh club Monmouth Town when he “got clattered” and sustained a tibia plateau fracture. “I broke my knee joint, essentially,” Ballantyne said. “I never played again”. So began a life investment in coaching that would see Ballantyne stacking supermarket shelves overnight, then spending long days on the grass. He has been employed by Cardiff City and Aston Villa, and managed in three of Australia’s six states. The Englishman was the man Jim...
