Chicago entrepreneur, author, and business consultant Darlene Ziebell, is excited to announce she has launched a brand-new giveaway, “12 Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting A Business.” This guide will highlight 12 critical lessons accompanied by real-life stories that Ziebell has learned throughout a 40-year career of owning multiple successful companies.

Ziebell’s valuable guide will feature numerous potential pitfalls new business owners are likely to encounter yet, with an 85% business failure rate in the U.S. consistent over the past 24 years, are unlikely to be aware of if they are just starting their business. The 12 lessons within the guide cover prevalent issues or problems in almost every sector of a business, including marketing, legal, financial, and human resources.

“There’s a whole range of problems that can occur throughout the process of starting a business, to managing a business, to deciding when it’s the best time to exit a business,” said Ziebell. “With a lot of these issues that can occur, nobody wants to talk about it, and nobody knows about it; much of it is not taught in business school. But if you take the time to be prepared as a small business owner, you can prevent these things from putting you out of business.”

The 12 lessons, or challenges you need to watch out for in the guide, are each accompanied by a personal story behind them. The personal stories are first-hand accounts, and lessons learned that Ziebell has personally experienced in her entrepreneurial journey. They tell the story of what happened in very personal terms, how it happened, and the behind-the-scenes events associated with the issues so people can more easily relate to the lessons and know what to watch out for.

“If the issues addressed in the guide were 12 things that people already knew when they started a business, they’d be able to recognize the warning signs when these things happen because they will happen,” noted Ziebell. “I’ve interviewed so many business owners over the years, and one or more of these things have happened to all of them in some form or variation. They either find a way to overcome them, or most of them don’t overcome them, and their businesses fail.”

In addition to launching the giveaway, Ziebell has also started a podcast and plans to host a series of online workshops and a business coaching program soon.

To receive the giveaway guide, people can visit her website, enter their email address, and immediately receive the guide. It is a must-have to avoid the 12 prevailing yet often-unknown challenges that can sink a business and avoid becoming one of the 85% who fails.

Mercedes’ George Russell remains optimistic despite challenging Formula One season

George Russell said one difficult Formula One season would not define his career and he still had plenty of time on his side. Even UFC champ Zhang Weili under pressure to find boyfriend from pushy Chinese parents

Even Asia’s first UFC world champion, Zhang Weili, cannot escape the pressure of Chinese parents pushing her to get married. A year ago, Zhang, now 37, said she was glad her family was not rushing her to marry, preferring to focus on her fighting career and leave relationships to fate. But in an interview posted on social media this week, Zhang revealed her parents grew deeply concerned about her love life during the first half of the year, saying they were “pushing really hard”. Onifa gunning for hat-trick of MoonTrekker titles, despite long-term back injury

John ‘Stingray’ Ray Onifa will tackle the Barclays MoonTrekker on Friday, but he said it was “much more difficult” to talk about navigating Hong Kong’s hills and valleys than actually doing it. And that’s despite the Philippine star, who is considered one of the best trail runners in Asia, carrying a long-term back injury that still leaves him “feeling the pain”. Onifa also has a perfect record to defend, having won the 50-kilometre race on his debut in 2018 and the 40km version five years...

Australia cricketer Green on Hulk Hogan, Jimmy Anderson, Wimbledon and Test match dreams

In 2014, Chris Green spent two days dressed as Hulk Hogan in Hong Kong Stadium’s riotous South Stand cheering for friend Cameron Clark during the rugby sevens. The “awesome” experience gave Green a “very specific taste” of a city he has grown to “really love.” This year he is back to lead his country in the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes, a year after being in the side that reached the semi-finals. A modern-day gun for hire, the 33-year-old has played in virtually every franchise tournament going; from...

Venus Williams vows to quit on own terms, but could Hong Kong be end of American’s road?

Venus Williams has vowed not to be railroaded into retirement, but the American superstar raised the possibility that next week’s Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open could close the book on her extraordinary career. A 23-time grand slam champion, Williams suffered a 16th straight defeat when she was comfortably beaten by 18-year-old Lilli Tagger in the opening round of the Guangzhou Open on Tuesday.
